We still believe technology can transform teaching and learning


Mark Millar started his career in education as a teacher in the UK. During that time, he became convinced of the potential of technology to support, enhance and even transform education. He moved to the US, where he studied, and then worked at, Harvard University, helping to develop the University’s use of technology, and online teaching and learning in particular. 

Back in the UK, Mark began working with Edinburgh University, conducting research into the use of online learning in undergraduate courses. At the same time, he founded a small Ed Tech company, developing high-quality online learning resources.

Today, M W Millar Ltd continues that work and has partnered with a wide range of universities, colleges, educational publishers, banks and other organisations across the world to deliver bespoke, high-quality online learning experiences.

We take the arrival of AI in education seriously. Great learning design has always required more than the latest technology. It needs an understanding how people learn, what motivates them, and how to structure experiences that actually work. However, where AI can add value, we don’t just advise – we build: creating bespoke AI-driven learning tools tailored precisely to our partners’ needs. That judgment and capability comes from decades of research-based practice, not from chasing trends.
